We get a lot of requests for the very dramatic Smokey Eye here is some info, that is well worth the read!
One of the sultriest looks in eye makeup today is that of the smokey eye. It is a dramatic way of applying makeup around the eye that provides a smudgy appearance. It is one that is very easy to achieve, though it involves knowing how to blend the various colours and products together.
The smokey eye is used for special occasions as opposed to everyday wear. It can be worn for going out on the town or for weddings and other formal events.
The eye shadow palette needs to be considered. Charcoal and grey are common colours that are used, though three shades will need to be chosen altogether, each of a similar hue. Blues, browns, and greens are also gaining in popularity for this method.
There are some tips to understand when it comes to creating the smokey eye look. This includes using loose powders as opposed to cream or pressed powders because they have the better blending ability. A domed eye shadow brush should also be used for application.
The eye should be primed and then liner should be applied to upper and lower lash lines. Eye shadow is then added in the darkest colour to the eyelid and then blended upwards. It can blend all the way to the brow bone.
Once the smokey eye technique has been perfected, a person can then move to the makeup application over the rest of the face. This will include application of foundation, lips, and blush. Practicing with the makeup and the techniques can lead to a better overall look.
